RESIDENTS in the south of Forres have been shocked to find homes without water and no warning from the statutory corporation.

Scottish Water was supposed to give all addresses in the area 48 hours prior warning that works taking place to resolve pressure issues will mean that customers would be without water overnight on Tuesday this week.

However, the company failed to send out letters to all of the houses affected beforehand.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Planned interruptions to supply are taking place affecting customers in the Forres area. The first took place overnight on January 16 with more planned throughout January and into February.

"Regrettably, a small number of customers in the Findhorn Park and Knockomie areas didn’t receive 48 hours’ notice, as is our standard service to customers.

"This was due to a wider than anticipated impact on customers in Knockomie, and the addresses at Findhorn Park not being listed on our GIS system due to their new-build status.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused and will work towards a solution to ensure this does not happen again."

Customers due to be impacted by Thursday's interruption to supply have been notified. Further letterdrops will be undertaken for the forthcoming planned interruptions to give 48 hours’ notice.

The spokesperson finished: “We again apologise for any confusion and inconvenience, and thank all customers for their understanding while the essential works are carried out to improve the water network in the area.”

Low or intermittent pressure issues and/or discoloured water may be experienced immediately after the supply returns. Call 0800 0778 778 to report to Scottish Water.
