A FORMER Forres postie is standing in the local elections to represent the ward.

Self-employed father-of- two, Scott Lawrence (42), wants to channel his interest in politics and need to help improve the area.

He said: “I’ve always been interested in politics and how it relates to life in Forres.

“Previously I was in a position where, with myself and my wife working full time and raising a young family, I was left with little spare time or energy.

“However, I now find myself with the time, will, energy and experience to help and represent the interests of people in the area.”

Scott lives in Forres with Solo Hair Design owner Lisa and their two girls aged four and 14.

The hypnotherapist said: “We are proud to raise our family here.

“I have lived in Forres since I was six when my father returned home as a local bobby. Both my parents and grandparents are from here too.

“I’ve worked here all my life too and as a postie visited every door in the ward!

“I also worked as a youth worker for six years based in Forres House Community Centre. I’m still passionate about helping young people.”

Scott wants to work towards the aspirations of the wider community.

He said: “I’m standing to represent what’s important to them. I’ve had conversations with numerous local people with amazingly diverse lives.

“From the education of young people and the challenges of working, parental life to care for the elderly, my intention is to represent the people I share my life in Forres with.”

Scott is standing on an SNP ticket having been a member of the local branch for years.

He said: “Being a member of the SNP has enabled me to become more involved in local politics and regularly meet people who have the same local passion. The opportunity to work within the SNP group at Moray Council appealed.

“I was impressed by the way they steadied the Moray Council ship, delivering a balanced budget for the last four years after the Conservative group lost control after a year in charge in 2018.”
