PEOPLE looking to get into jogging are being invited to attend free weekly sessions in Forres.

Forres Jog Scotland is inviting new runners to attend its classes, which take place on Mondays at 6.30pm.

The club currently has around 15 members, along with four volunteer coaches, and meets outside Forres Library.

After lockdown, the club is now in a position to welcome more adults, aged 18 plus, along to its sessions.

Ewen Watson, one of the jog leaders, said: "The idea of the club is to target runners of all abilities and to give people someone else to run with so they have company and encouragement.

"We can tailor sessions to ability so experience level doesn't matter. One of the leaders or members will keep everyone company and work to their level.

"Beginners are mainly what we are looking for but we do have intermediate and expert groups.

"It's a good way to get back into running, or get into it for the first time. It's very informal and not too difficult.

"We approach things from a ground level up and allow people to progress at their own pace.

"It's a good social club with runners from all kinds of diverse backgrounds."

Sessions last around 50 minutes but the beginners group will be much shorter.

Forres Jog Scotland beginners will undertake the Couch to 5K programme, which sees people walk or jog for a couple of minutes every week – building up until they can eventually run five kilometres.
