Temperatures reached 30C as thousands of people attended the 95th edition of the popular event.

This year's games remained faithful to its predecessors by embracing Scottish tradition with competitors taking part in a range of events.

That included Highland dancing, athletics events, heavyweight events and tug o' war,

Massed pipe bands also featured heavily meanwhile spectators were afforded the opportunity to take part in the Message Bike Race - a unique feature of the Forres Games.

Alistair Stewart, who has helped organise the games for nearly 30 years, was pleased to see people enjoying yet another successful Games.

He said: "We had over 1300 online ticket sales the last time I looked yesterday. We've also got more card reading machines this year and that's worked phenomenally well so far as well.

"I have no idea about the official numbers at the moment but there are thousands coming so it's been absolutely manic.

"But the sun's out and everyone has been enjoying it I think so it's been great."

Keep an eye on the the Forres Gazette over the coming days for more Highland Games coverage.
