Local people are being asked to "bring their banners and raise their voices" next Friday.

Earth March is taking place along Forres High Street to call for urgent action to address climate change.

Karen Higginbottom, one of he event's organisers, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for organisations and individuals concerned about the effects of climate change to gather together and ask politicians to take climate action at COP26.

"This has been described as the last chance for the earth and for us as a species.

"There has been so much inaction and delay and addressing climate change as the urgent crisis that it is.

"It’s long overdue for corporations and politicians to treat this as the existential crisis that it is rather than delaying and sidelining the issue.

"We are seeing the effects of climate change first-hand here in Moray with flash floods and the threat of rising sea levels in the next 20 to 30 years.

"The time for climate leadership at COP26 is now."

Earth March is taking place from 2pm-5pm, starting at the Thomson Memorial and ending at Grant Park.
