Forres church to hold uniform sale in aid of Moray School Bank

A CHURCH in Forres is set to hold a uniform sale to help support local charity Moray School Bank.
St John's Church will hold the sale at St Leonard's Church Hall on Saturday, July 30 from 9.30am until 1pm.
The social committee at the local church held a 'pre-loved' uniform sale last April and owing to its success, they have decided to hold another.
The sale will include all uniforms such as Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Rainbows as well as school uniforms. All donations from the sale will go towards Moray School Bank which has supported local children since 2017.
Vicky Flood, Moray School Bank fundraising and community development officer, said: "With the cost of living increasing, this is a way everyone can make savings. The environment is very important too, we are in the middle of a climate emergency so the more we are re-using, the better for everyone.
"This sale is about all uniforms as well, not just school uniforms. The more people bring to pass on and the more people come to the sale, the more everyone can benefit.
“Around 40 years ago, we had bring and buy, and jumble sales. If each child used at least one item of recycled uniform at least once over the course of the school year, then that should go some way to help the environment and the family purse.
"Moray School Bank take in a lot of good quality second hand uniforms and use that during the school year. If it’s in good condition, then it should be used again.”
St John's plan to hold three sales a year starting with another in October to support anyone who wants to 'upcylce' and re-use and are hopeful that other groups across Moray follow their lead.
Meanwhile, Moray School Bank recently received a major boost in the form of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to work with communities across Moray.
The project is due to start in the coming months and is set to cover a three year period.
