The concert - taking place on Saturday October 29 - is the groups second performance in Forres.

The 35 strong group was created in 2019 to maintain the tradition of classical choral singing in the Forres area and the group have a diverse programme for the autumn concert including harp solos, Brahms's Naenie, Fauré's Requiem and a selection of Chilcott's Dances of Time.

The concert will also feature a string orchestra of young local players and their teachers, Brian Smith, conductor said: "One of our aims is to provide performance opportunities for young players and singers. Our first concert showcased the talents of a young local cellist.

"This time, we have a string chamber orchestra of three young players, violinists Ellen Nicol and Zack Carroll and cellist Edward Clark partnered by their teachers. These players will join harp and organ players Erica Sinclair and Stephen Kirkwood to provide the accompaniment for Faure's atmospheric Requiem.

“The involvement of young musicians is central to our music-making. Performance opportunities for talented young players have been few and far between in recent years. This opportunity to perform with their teachers and other musicians will be a valuable experience”

The performance will be 17-year-old Edward Clark's first concert with Forres Chorale. The teen has been playing the cello for eight years and is looking forward to performing with the choir before he sits his ARSM Diploma exam later this year.

Edward said: "I am really looking forward to the concert which will give young people like myself more performing opportunities, especially after the disruption from the pandemic.”

In December, Forres Chorale will also join with Forres Youth Choir to perform a joint Christmas Concert.

Tickets for Forres Chorale's Autumn Candlelight Concert cost £7 with free entry for students, and are available from R & R Urquhart, High St, Forres or can be reserved via email: briansmithalt@aol.com
