RESURFACING improvements planned for the A96 Forres bypass have been postponed.
Transport Scotland contractor Amey has confirmed that the work scheduled for this weekend will have to be rescheduled due to poor weather conditions.
An Amey spokesperson said: “Due to the weather forecast showing high winds all weekend and rain on Sunday, the decision was taken to postpone the resurfacing works on the A96 Forres bypass for safety reasons.
“This work will be rescheduled and we will update local communities accordingly when dates are confirmed.”
The £278,000 project will address defects on more than 500 metres of the bypass. The work will be undertaken on both single and dual carriageway sections of the A96 between Greshop Roundabout and west of A940 Market Street.
To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, the road was to be closed from 7.30pm on Friday, February 2 until 6.30am on Monday, February 5, with possible additional works overnight on Monday, February 5 and Tuesday, February 6.
Where necessary, they will be carried out using temporary traffic lights or convoy working and during the closure, traffic will be diverted.
