Rescheduled roadworks affecting A96 Forres bypass to go ahead this weekend

ROADWORKS at the Forres bypass originally scheduled for early February are going ahead this weekend.
Transport Scotland contractor Amey is undertaking surfacing improvements to a section of the A96 between 7.30pm on Friday, March 22 and 6.30pm on Monday, March 25, addressing defects on more than 500 metres of road surface.
An Amey spokesperson said: “The work will be undertaken on both carriageway sections between the Greshop Roundabout and west of A940 Market Street.
“To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, the essential maintenance will be carried out using a full weekend road closure.”
Westbound traffic will turn left onto A940 Market Street and take the third exit at the roundabout onto B9011 Nairn Road to rejoin the A96 at Greshop Roundabout. Eastbound traffic will take the route in reverse.
Light traffic for Benromach Way and Waterford Industrial Estate will leave the A96 at Findhorn Roundabout (with eastbound traffic having followed the above diversion), taking the B9011 north and turning left
after the railway bridge towards Waterford Road.
Traffic from south of Forres wishing to head east towards Elgin will follow the A940 north and turn right onto Orchard Road. Traffic can then follow South Street and turn right onto the High Street and follow Victoria Road to join the A96 at Findhorn Roundabout.
“The resurfacing will benefit more than 11,400 vehicles who use this route each day,” said the spokesperson. “This will
create a smoother ride for motorists,
reducing the need for ongoing
maintenance.”
The works may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
