A MORAY based artist says that she is "really excited" to be taking part in North East Open Studios 2022.

Iona Leishman, based near Forres, has opened her studio doors to members of the public as part of the event which started on Saturday and will run until September 18.

Iona is joined by a collective of award winning artists, designers and makers who have also opened their doors for the event that takes place every year.

The aim is to engage with a wider audience and grow small scale art and craft businesses in the north east by showing off the wealth of talent that can be found in the area.

Iona was Historic Environment Scotland's first artist in residence at Stirling Castle but moved to Moray two years ago.

She said: "My working studio is ideally placed between Forres and Findhorn and as a new member of NEOS, I'm really excited to be welcoming people into my space where you can see my oil paintings that feature the local landscape around Findhorn Bay and surrounding forest.

"My paintings also feature 'felt' energies of horses and people who may have inhibited these lands and I've attached a couple of examples here."

Iona is not the only Moray based artist to open their studio doors this week with artists and designers from Buckie, Cullen, Aberlour, Keith as well as more in Findhorn and Forres also doing so.
