An old mattress and a box that used to contain a baby's push chair were amongst items found discarded in the woods at the weekend.

The unwelcome discovery was made about a mile from Forres on Sunday morning.

Local man Neil Jeronim said: "I was walking along the road between Kintessack and Clodymoss at about 9am when I spotted the mess.

"It just makes you wonder who would do something like this. It's a real shame.

"You would think it would be easier to go to the dump rather than drive out into the forest."
Mr Jeronim believes the items were dumped at some point during Saturday, as he thinks he followed the exact same route the day before without noticing anything.

The matter is being reported to the council.

More than 60,000 incidents of fly-tipping were recorded in Scotland last year.

When rubbish is dumped on private land, it falls on the owners to clear it up at their own cost.
