A THORNHILL resident is satisfied her complaints to the local authority about insufficient drainage have finally been responded to.
The woman and her neighbours, who wish to remain nameless, sent several emails to Moray Council in August - the first on August 11 - pointing out that blocked drains in Shieldaig Road were flooding the street and causing damage to their cars.
They were repeatedly told that their complaints had been passed to the roads maintenance department but the road continued to retain water causing a large, deep puddle where the residents parked.
One explained: "The depth was causing brakes to collect water and there were issues when we were moving our cars through the dip in the road. There were so many cars parked at the side of the puddle, you had to drive through it.
"It was been ongoing for so long there was grass growing out of the drain!"
On Tuesday, October 20 council workers cut trees down in the area and cleared the drain.
Local councillor and former Thornhill resident Aaron McLean apologised that a communication problem and knock-on effects of the coronavirus pandemic had caused the delay
He added: "I'm happy that the situation has now been resolved by our hard working roads department. The residents should see some improvements in the drainage. I've been dealing with a few cases brought about by the heavy rain we've had recently so I'm happy to help out."
