Five crashes in seven days between Brodie and Hardmuir

POLICE attended two crashes at on a local road on Sunday afternoon.

The accidents ended a week of similar incidents on the stretch of the A96 from Brodie to Wester Hardmuir - there were a total of five between July 9 and July 16.

On the latest, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.05pm on Sunday, July 16 , police were called to the A96 at Wester Hardmuir following reports of two road crashes.

"The first involved a single-vehicle one and the second involving two vehicles. Recovery was arranged."

The road was clear by 4pm.

There was a four-vehicle crash close to Hardmuir Fruit Farm at 3.35pm on Thursday July 14. Emergency services attended and the road was closed until around 5.05pm.

A two-car crash near Brodie at around 3pm on Monday, July 11 left an 82-year-old woman in hospital with life-threatening injuries. An 83-year-old man driving one car had serious injuries, while a 69-year-old man driving another sustained minor injuries.

Police were also called to a two-vehicle crash near Brodie Countryfare at around 5.10pm on Saturday, July 9. There were no injuries and the road was cleared by 7.05pm.
