A LOCAL film club is looking for ideas to help make its screenings more frequent and even more popular.

A new working group at Film Forres is continuing the popular Friday night shows of family movies in the town hall while developing a wider, community-driven, programme of cinematic events.

Film Forres spokesman Gareth Edwards confirmed the new group has successfully hosted three Friday night shows already.

He said: "We have also decided to host a series of broader film experiences, making them more of an event. This means hosting informal evenings such as: film and food; film and music; debates; themed nights; all-nighters; costume and murder mysteries.

"The aim is to bring people together and work with local companies and projects. But we need ideas - what would the community like to see, do and experience?"

Film Forres has set up an ambassador programme which allows club members and school children to choose films to be screened and help out.

First time attendees are issued with membership cards - after five visits they are given a goody-bag as a thank you.

The working group plans to create an adult membership system for regular screening events at the town hall and elsewhere "creating an entirely new cinematic experience".

Mr Edwards said: "Our first event is on Saturday, March 16 with a showing of Bohemian Rhapsody - the four times Oscar winning story about rock star Freddie Mercury and his band Queen - in the town hall at 7pm. The evening will be really informal with a bring your own bottle policy and nibbles provided by us. Unfortunately it will be for strictly over-18’s this time but we will be looking to expand the events going forward."
