Pupils across Moray will be raising their bows and picking up their drumsticks from Monday as some face-to-face music lessons resume.

Face-to-face instruction was suspended by the council when lockdown began, with classes moving online via Glow.

However Moray’s young string and percussion musicians are now set to re-join their instructors as they continue to prepare for their SQA exams.

Acting Head of Instrumental Instruction, Alexander Davidson, said: "We’ve missed making music, but the safety of pupils and staff has to come first.

"We’re looking forward to be seeing and hearing our first musicians live since March with all the appropriate covid secure measures in place.

"We’re prioritising students in secondary schools and those who are preparing to sit their SQA exams.

"There are still national restrictions in place that mean we’re unable to re-start face-to-face woodwind or brass instrumental instruction just yet.

"However, woodwind and brass instructors are still engaging with their pupils online."
