The fortnight-long tournament was due to commence a week on Monday.

However, in its place, the BBC has scheduled over 50 hours of programming related to tennis.

Each weeknight on BBC Two from 8pm, Sue Barker will be joined by legends of the sport, including Tim Henman, Boris Becker, John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova.

Meanwhile, Clare Balding will present Wimbledon Rewind each week day from 1.45pm on BBC Two.

Other programmes to look out for include Andy Murray’s Greatest Hits, which will showcase his remarkable career.

Top ten men’s and women’s finals will also be counted down in Wimbledon: The Greatest Final

The BBC's director of sport, Barbara Slater said: "Whilst there will be no live play this year, we’re looking forward to bringing plenty of Wimbledon action to tennis fans this summer.

"Incredible victories, crushing defeats and expert comment and opinions from our tennis teams will combine for a fortnight of entertainment."
