Department for Work and Pensions jobs Marketplace at Forres Town Hall on Friday, March 24

ANYONE looking for a job will benefit from attending an event being held at Forres Town Hall this weekend.

The Department for Work and Pensions has organised a Forres Marketplace from 9.30am-noon on Friday, March 24 to introduce a range of employers and partners who are offering information and support as well as employment opportunities.

Jason Allan, from Forres Jobcentre, has confirmed representation from AJ Engineering, Walker’s Shortbread, Makar Technologies, Gordonstoun, Home Care Scotland, Moray Council (roads/fleet management, direct labour organisation, social care, catering and schools support staff), Forres Area Community Trust (FACT), Moray Council’s employability team, NHS Healthpoint, Social Security Scotland, Triage and UHI Moray.

He said: “The jobs fair is a great way to speak with potential employers face-to-face in a relaxed environment, collect information on employers, ask them questions, apply for jobs, or even have a mini informal interview on the day.

“It’s a great event to find out more about what is available locally.

“It can help you to find employment, gain new skills, find out what local organisations can offer and help with any health related issues.”

Working closely with FACT, the DWP aims to hold marketplaces in Forres a few times-a-year.

“This is the second marketplace in Forres since our first in October,” said Mr Allan.

“The last was a resounding success.

“Employers advertise current and future vacancies while partner organisations offer support and guidance on a range of topics. Other partner organisations will provide general advice on how to how to claim Adult Disability payments and how to manage mental health, along with other support.”
