Elgin A96 bus crash victim named

POLICE Scotland have named an 80-year-old who died in a head-on crash on the A96 just after Christmas.

Ian Meiklejohn, from Forres, died in the collision with a Stagecoach bus near the Eight Acres Hotel, on the eastern outskirts of Elgin, on December 27.

Mr Meiklejohn was the driver and sole occupant of a blue Dacia Duster which was involved in the collision with the service bus near the junction of the trunk road with Morriston Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the bus was taken to Dr Gray's Hospital with minor injuries.

No passengers on the bus were injured.
