DYKE Preschool held a party to celebrate the opening of its renovated garden area.

Preschool manager Trisha Goodall confirmed the outdoor play area was paid for via fundraising efforts by the school and the surrounding community.

She said: "We love our new garden! We will be using it every day to enhance the children's learning in all areas of the curriculum and meet current guidelines for outdoor play. It has given us so much more space and freedom to move around."

Elgin-based landscaper Bob Alexander built a fire pit, mud kitchen, planters, sandpit and shelter for the children aged from 2-5-years-old.

The school is working with Forres Men's Shed to add the final touches.

Ms Goodall added: "With the support of parents and donations from Johnstone Carmichael we will be planting vegetables to use in the preschool and flowers that will attract bees and other wildlife."
