AN amateur runner from Forres completed more than 22 miles in the Netherlands’ capital in aid of a north east charity.

Guy Glen (52), originally from Anderson Crescent, finished the Amsterdam Marathon 10k, raising more than £1500 for Charlie House, which provides respite for young children and babies with complex health needs.

He said: "My step-daughter used to work for Charlie's House. There are a lot of sick and terminally ill babies and children so it is a charity dear to my heart and I've done a few runs for them now.

Charlie House was established in 2011 to help make life better for babies, children and young people who have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, and to support their parents, brothers and sisters, and all those who love them.

The Amsterdam Marathon is an annual event that has been running since 1975. The road race has a Gold Label from the IAAF. The route starts and finishes in the Olympic Stadium.

Guy added: " I was absolutely nackered at the finish. It was a hard run.

"I'm not sure when I'll do another one - I'm still recovering!"
