A LOCAL electronic music artist who has produced three number one records is hosting a club night in Forres after the Highland Games.
Duncan McBean, AKA Acutek, is inviting music fans and attendees from all over to ‘Flick’ at The Eagle Bar from 9pm-1.30am on Saturday, July 8 to enjoy a party with him and fellow DJs Grigor and Hoezley.
He said: “There aren’t often large events like the games in town so this is an opportunity to meet new people and introduce them to what else is happening here. I want to offer attendees the chance to continue being entertained with music at night. Everyone is welcome - please try something new if you’ve not been before!”
Flick - also the name of Duncan’s record label he launched in 2021 - has been running for three years now and has built up quite a following. However, this will be the first event for six months.
“It’s been the longest hiatus we’ve had since gigs returned after the Covid lockdown,” explained Duncan. “I usually put on an event around the end of February but my girlfriend and I moved house in March so it was too much. Now that the dust has settled, I’m looking forward to playing again.”
He added: “Myself, Grigor and Hoezley have unique styles and it’s always good fun when the three of us are on the same line-up. We all enjoy playing techno and that shows to the audience.”
Acutek released his self-produced ‘Combat ‘EP on Flick on June 2. The record went to number one in the ‘Raw/Deep/Hypnotic Techno’ releases chart on global online music store, Beatport.
“It also hit number 49 across all genres!,” added Duncan. “An average 25,000 tracks are delivered to Beatport every week so reaching these levels is motivating after all the hard work and planning that goes into releasing music.
“It’s my third number one release in-a-row - to be on my own label makes it even better.”
