LITTLE guys and ghouls are being dared to find their way through a local wood to win a prize and help raise funds for charity.

Kinloss-based, Ecologia Youth Trust, is setting up another fang-tastic pumpkin trail around Grant Park and Cluny Hill on Sunday, October 30, following the success of last year’s event which also helped give youngsters overseas a chance to escape poverty.

Ecologia associate director, Robyn Cooper, confirmed the spook-tacular event attracted nearly 200 families last Halloween, many of whom rode broomsticks while hunting down pumpkins.

She said: “The trail is a great way for families to enjoy fresh air, have fun and support disadvantaged children and young people who Ecologia helps realise potential and improves their lives long term. Our support is more urgent than ever, due to the global cost of living crisis and increased food and water shortages. The £4 entry for the trail could provide a child with a school meal every day for a month, giving them the energy to play, learn and succeed. We are very grateful to Tesco, who again donated the pumpkins to be carved by volunteers for the event.”

There will be two routes, with15 pumpkins hidden away on each. There will also be a Halloween-themed spot for photographs along the way. Ecologia will have a stall at Grant Park car park where maps will be available from 11am. Each pumpkin will have a name to fill in on the maps - when participants return their completed trail maps to the stall they will get a sweet prize.

The cost is £4 per child but accompanying adults and children under one-year-old go free.

All proceeds will support Ecologia’s work to help children and young people in Kenya and Uganda, areas which experiencing a cost of living crisis, as well as food and water shortages.

Ecologia is also holding a Pumpkin Toddle for the little-est monsters and their families from 1-3pm on Monday October 31at The Park Ecovillage near Findhorn.

Ecologia was established in 1995 and has helped to transform over 54,000 lives. For more information, visit www.ecologia.org.uk.Ecologia.
