AN out-of-use village bus shelter has been transformed into a community library during the coronavirus crisis.

Buses have long since stopped travelling to Dallas, but that hasn't stopped the locals making use of the bus shelter that remains.

Lesley Boyle, who lives in the village, came up with the idea of using the area as a place to swap books – and it has taken off.

Lesley put some old books in the shelter and a bookcase and cushions have since been added.

She said: "I had a couple of bags of books ready to go to the charity shop with nowhere to put them.

"I thought I must not be the only one in this position, and we are all going to need more books in lockdown.

"The bus shelter was lying empty with no more buses in Dallas, so I put the books in there.

"It has gone from strength to strength with quite a lot of people using it.

"Somebody has donated a bookcase and put a couple of cushions down to make it a comfortable place where people can swap books."

As well as books, magazines are being swapped at the shelter.

The idea has been taken on by all in the village – although, Lesley added, there is a lack of children's books with kids reluctant to trade their prize possessions.

Anyone willing to add their books to the collection or use the book-swap is free to do so, but social distancing measures must be maintained at all times.
