A charity that provides free transport to the local community is looking for a new name and logo.

The Osprey Bus Trust was founded on August 9, 1973 by local people with the help of RAF Kinloss - it changed to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2010 and now, in its 50th year and awaiting a new electric vehicle to be delivered in July, trustees feels the time is right for change.

Trust chairman Shaun Moat explained the current moniker is confusing.

He said: "I've been stopped and asked about Osprey birds so many times! I regularly explain that the bus doesn't have anything to do with them but is for the folk of Forres!

"With the new bus almost ready for delivery, we think there is a great opportunity to re-brand and allow the community to come up with the new design and name.

"We'll have a stall at Forres Highland Games where the entries will be displayed and the public can vote for their favourite."

Local marketing agency 3rd Pixel has donated a £50 gift card to be presented to the winner. The winning name and logo will be used on the bus, website and marketing. The deadline is July 1.

"The bus enables transport options for a wide range of groups," added Shaun. "It would be good if the name and logo reflected our amazing town ..."

Since moving to online bookings, the service has seen usuage increase so the diesel bus will be used for trips further away and the electric for local runs.

Osprey Bus user groups currently include Riding for the Disabled, Forres Academy Volleyball Team, Dyke Primary School, Logie Primary School, Moravian Court users and Forres Cricket Club.

"User groups tend to provide their own drivers," said Shaun, "but we have a bank of volunteer drivers.

"We are always looking for more for as little as a couple of hours-a-week. Please email liz@forresospreybus.co.uk for more information and with competition designs."
