A LOCAL community transport service is offering free trips to young and old this summer.

The Forres Osprey Bus Trust is using a grant of £3000 from the Moray Council School Holiday Fund to cover the cost of excursions for local children from families struggling with the cost of living – and £2500 from the Auchernack Trust to take older residents on 10 excursions in the area.

Osprey Trust development officer, Shaun Moat, confirmed the younger travellers are going on a bushcraft trip as well as to Infinity Trampoline Park and Vue Cinema in Inverness this month.

He explained: “Having a large family, I know how hard it can be to afford trips out.

“This will give kids the opportunity to have fun and meet new people.

“It will also give parents the opportunity to have fun without high costs.

“The idea is to tackle isolation issues many children suffer during school holidays and to take away some of the financial burden.

“We will be putting on trips throughout the holiday period to various locations such as Landmark, the beach, and Highland Wildlife Park.

“Children must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone can apply to go via info@forresospreybus.co.uk.”

Day trips are also being made available for older residents on July 21, 26 and 31, August 7, 17, 22 and 31, September 8 and 14.

Shaun continued: “To reserve a space on our trips, email info@forresospreybus.co.uk or call Liz on 07842872816.

“The destinations will be released closer to the trips.”

The Osprey Trust is also currently running a competition to help its revamp.

The winning name and logo will be used on the bus, website and marketing.

The winner will get a £50 gift voucher.

A final three designs have been shortlisted and the community is invited to visit www.Facebook.com/ForresOspreyBus to choose one. Voting for the competition closes on July 31.
