Forres community groups are set to greatly benefit by support from Co-op’s Local Community Fund.

Co-op members have raised funds to support local projects they care about by scanning their membership card when buying own-brand products and services.

A total of £6387.89 is being shared in Forres and surrounding areas by three groups, including Friends of Blairs Loch who have received £2126.49; Forres in Bloom receiving £2488.65, and Logie Primary School Parent Council who benefited with £1772.75.

Rebecca Birkbeck, director of community and member participation at the Co-op, said: "We’re really proud of our Local Community Fund and the impact it’s had supporting thousands of local causes across the UK.

"These groups deliver incredible grassroot projects and the funding boost comes at a much-needed time, with research showing that more than 8 in 10 community groups have seen a jump in demand for their services through the cost-of-living crisis.

"This Christmas, Co-op members can donate their member rewards balance via the Co-op app, and from next week, all shoppers can also donate in our stores."

Co-op has pledged to match all donations.
