Pluscarden Abbey will be the setting next week for the premier performance of a piece celebrating the 40th anniversary of Musick Fyne.

The Highland choral group have sung numerous times at the abbey near Forres since they formed in 1982.

‘Orisons of the Air’ is a choral work by Inverness composer and group member Gordon Tocher, which was commissioned specially to celebrate the anniversary.

Musick Fyne, under their director D James Ross, will be at the abbey to perform the work for the very first time on Tuesday, September 27.

The concert will also feature spectacular choral music by the Scottish Renaissance master Robert Carver.

In addition, it will also include instrumental interludes for recorders played by members of Coronach, as well as early Scottish music for wire-strung clarsach played by Bill Taylor.

The concert begins at 8pm.

Programmes (£10) in aid of the abbey’s charitable work will go on sale at the door from 7pm.
