The service supports patients from across the region living with chronic kidney disease to access dialysis treatment at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.

Dialysis treatment must be given three times a week, and for patients who would otherwise rely on a taxi or ambulance transport, the St John Scotland service means they have a free, reliable and friendly service they can depend on.

Volunteers are asked to make a regular commitment to the role, which is flexible around their own availability.

Volunteers should live in Moray, be between the age of 25 and 80 years old, hold a full driving licence and be a competent driver with use of the own car that they would be happy to use for patient transport.

Drivers collect passengers from their homes at a pre-arranged time, convey them to the clinic at Dr Gray's Hospital and return them home after their treatment. Volunteers will be eligible to claim expenses for mileage while volunteering when using their own vehicle.
