A local charity is offering beach facilities for either a donation, or free of charge to people who have used its services.

Moray School Bank’s (MSB) hut at the back shore in Findhorn has everything a family could want for a day on the beach, including six seats, blankets, beach toys, games, mugs, lights, plastic plates and cutlery.

‘No Worries In Moray’ project assistant, Hannah Weir, confirmed MSB has been offering the hut to the community since 2021.

She said: “It offers the perfect family day out. There’s so much to do, especially for the kids, and somewhere to sit and relax for the adults. Even on a chilly day, if you’re wrapped up warm under the blankets, it can be amazing just to sit and listen to the sea. Or you can always take a picnic or a walk into Findhorn for amazing food there.”

The maximum number of people using the hut per visit is six. The suggested donation is £20 for a half day and £35 for a full day. To book, visit the Moray School Bank website https://morayschoolbank.org/ and click on the No Worries in Moray tab.

Hannah added: “Donations cover maintenance and allow use by families we support - they get in touch to access a discount code. To book the date required, just click the link below the tab for the booking process.

“We at MSB don’t use it very often but on good days it can be a great space to work in!”

Hannah founded the No Worries in Moray project aged just 11 as a pupil at Speyside High School, winning a Young Scot Community Award for her efforts in 2020. The project is an offshoot of MSB, run by her mum, Debi. The pair initially bought the hut with the help of funding from Moray Firth Radio.

MSB has organised an Easter egg hunt at Glen Grant Gardens in Rothes from noon-4pm on Easter Sunday (April 9). Entry is £5 each.
