GRASSROOTS groups working to combat deprivation could win themselves a grant of up to £70,000.

The Henry Smith Charity's Strengthening Communities grant programme supports small, organisations, embedded in the community, working within the most deprived areas of the UK, with funding for their running costs.

Grants between £20,000 and £70,000 are available for work that enables: People from across the community to participate in activities which improve connectedness, opportunities and wellbeing; People who are excluded, vulnerable or facing other forms of hardship to have access to community-based services that support positive lasting change; A stronger, active, more engaged community.

The charity uses the government Indices of Multiple Deprivation to establish eligibility, so before applying, organisations must use the deprivation link for their country provided within the guidelines to check whether they are eligible for this grant programme.

There are no deadlines for applications.
