Cash awards aim to help young people reach their potential

The Ironmongers' Company is offering grants of up to £10,000.

PROJECTS supporting disadvantaged children and young people could be eligible to apply for a grant of up to £10,000 through the Ironmongers’ Company.

The company is looking for projects that deliver clearly defined educational benefits to a specific group of children or young people. Items of equipment will be considered only where a full explanation is given of how they will support this activity.

Projects could, for example, support special educational needs, or foster social, emotional or life skills. Preference will be given to projects piloting new approaches where the outcomes will be disseminated to a wider audience.

Initiatives enabling primary age children to develop a strong foundation for the future get priority, projects that support special educational needs, address behavioural problems, promote citizenship and parenting or life skills.

Grants can range is size from a few hundred pounds to £10,000, with average sum awarded £4000.

Any sum awarded must be spent within 12 months.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, July 31.
