Residents at Meadowlark Care Home, Forres enjoy learning entertainment skills during Moray Flying Circus workshop

RESIDENTS at a local residential facility clowned around during a workshop on World Circus Day then showed off what they learned at a party.
Staff at Meadowlark on Mannachie Road invited Moray Flying Circus – based at Dyke District and Villa - to teach circus skills including juggling and plate spinning – participating residents then entertained family and friends at a circus-themed party.
Jean McIntosh (89) said: “I’ve had a blast enjoying the workshop then clowning around.
“The atmosphere in the home was great and we all had a real laugh trying the different activities.
“We love trying new things!”
World Circus Day is observed on the third Saturday in April. It is dedicated to the circus as an art form by the European Circus Association and the World Circus Federation.
Renaissance Care Group runs 16 homes across Scotland. Staff put on fun and inventive events to engage residents, bettering their health and wellbeing, as well as encouraging fun and physical activity.
Activities coordinator, Derra Kew, said: “There is always a great buzz in the home when we put on events like this. We’re really lucky to have residents who are game for a laugh.”
