Tom Hutchinson is the principal cornet player with the South Wales Cory Band, which is considered number one in brass band circles these days.

In addition he has also given solo concerts all over the world – witnessed by the fact that he's just back from South Korea – and released albums.

Heather Park, the chairperson of Elgin City Band, is hoping many fans are going to make the journey to St Giles Church on May 7 to see him perform in the flesh.

She said: "To brass bandees, listening to someone like Tom Hutchinson is a dream come true.

"The audience will be treated to several solos from Tom during the evening concert."

The concert starts at 7.30pm at St Giles Church, Elgin, on Saturday, May 7.

As well as playing principal cornet with the Cory Band, Tom is also Professor of the Cornet at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as cornet tutor for both the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain.

On the morning of the concert, from 10.30am onwards, he will hold a workshop for aspiring brass players at the Williamson Hall on Elgin's Duff Avenue.

Tickets for both the concert and the workshop can be booked HERE
