MORE than 150 people attended a fundraising bingo night at Forres Town Hall on Saturday, March 4.

Forres Area Soccer Sevens (FASS) organised the event to raise money for club funds in the club’s 30th year - a grand total of £1463 will now be used for a series of celebratory events that are now being planned.

FASS chairman, Paul Lynch, confirmed eight games of bingo were played for prizes for a line, two lines and full house, ranging from Easter eggs to an overnight stay at a local hotel.

The town hall was packed for the bingo - called by Willie Ross - and raffle.

He said: “It was fantastic to see so many people take part in the bingo, raffle and lucky square, not only players and parents but also members of the wider community!

“For the final full house prize - an overnight stay and breakfast for two at Clunybank Hotel - two people actually shouted for the full house!

“We gave them a tie break question: on average how many sesame seeds are on a McDonald’s Big Mac bun?

“The answer was 178 and the closest guess was from Junior Sevens player, Olly Milton.

“He was over the moon to win!”

Sunday, March 7 was the first day of the Soccer Sevens 2023 season, with close to 300 children registered to play this year.

“It was very busy,” said Paul.

“It was wet and cold but that didn’t put the players off.

“Everyone was happy to be back and it was great to see the players leave with smiles on their faces.”

FASS meets every Sunday between February and October, and caters for children from four to 16-years-old.
