After 127 public performances over 48 years the Culbin Singers say farewell with their final Christmas Concert held at St Laurence Church.

A FORRES choir gave a sold-out final performance of an illustrious history spanning 48 years.

The Culbin Singers’ 127th and last public concert took place in St Laurence Church on Saturday, December 14.

A spokesperson said: “Thank you for such a tremendous send-off. Merry Christmas to you all from the choir.”

The church was packed with an appreciative audience there to savour a feast of traditional Christmas carols conducted by Alistair Hardie BEM, accompanied by Edith Cook on piano and Gordon Tocher on organ.

The programme included festive favourites The Holly and the Ivy, Twelve Days of Christmas and Little Donkey.

Attendees joined in on many songs, adding to the community spirit of the event.

Having lead the group since 1971 and raised vast sums for local and national causes over the decades, Mr Hardie and his choir brought it to an end as it was proving too difficult to recruit new members.

The retiring collection raised £1615.42 for the St Laurence Organ Fund.
