BEACH yoga and a prize draw have so far helped to raise nearly £1000 for a local homeless charity.

A total of 13 people - including one from Falkirk - took part in a yoga session in the dunes at Findhorn on Saturday, December 23 organised by Chelle Parker of local business The Vibe Movement on behalf of Moray Fresh Start (MFS).

She said: “It was a blast on a wild, cold, snowy, windy and rainy morning!

“Many more than the attendees had signed up but perhaps opted to stay home and dry.

“We moved into the shelter of the dunes and I led a hands-free Vinyasa flow yoga session to keep us warm.

“Justine from Balanced Bean Method wrapped up the session with a beautiful ‘Movement Is Medicine’ introduction as we danced to my portable speaker.

“Everyone left on a high, enjoying ‘Gut Feelings’ Kombucha gifted by Hannah.”

Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterised by moving from one posture to another. It is commonly referred to as ‘flow yoga’.

Elgin-based MFS supports people who have been homeless and are moving into new tenancies, setting them up with basic items. It also supports other vulnerable people in times of need, such as those coming out of hospital or recovering from other emergency situations.

A fundraising prize draw for a Beach Bliss prize bag featured items donated by The Olive Tree Kitchen, Torta Cafe, The Watershed Sauna and Eden Court, amongst others.

Winner Kerensa Russel said: “Wow, that’s amazing! I’m really happy to receive such lovely news.”

“Mali did a great job,” said Chelle.

“I’m so delighted with what we raised and grateful to everyone who supported the fundraiser.

“Hopefully next year the sun will shine for us!”
