THE town’s leading community music group is tuning up for a busy season.
Forres and District Pipe Band (FDPB) is performing at Highland Games in Forres, Inverness, Dufftown, Aberlour, Nethy Bridge and Nairn this summer.
Spokeswoman, Sharon Carmichael, is looking forward to showing off their skills.
She said: “Highland games are a firm favourite with the band - we will be supported by family and friends on some long days away on the bus.”
FDPB has already had a busy year, starting with the Youth Concert at Forres Town Hall in April, performing at the Royal British Legion (Scotland) to celebrate the King’s Coronation in May, playing a thanksgiving service at St Laurence Church in June then again at Ardersier Gala that month.
The band practices twice-a-week in Forres Town Hall and in Grant Park on Sunday evenings during nice weather.
“Five or six sets are usually played at Highland games,” explained Sharon, “with the most popular tunes being ‘Green Hills’ and ‘Scotland the Brave’. They’re a great way to meet with other bands to catch up and play together.”
She finished: “We’re always on the lookout for new members so please pop along!”
