POLICE are appealing for information following a serious assault in Forres.

At around 2.30am on Sunday, June 30, a 45-year-old man was assaulted in the area of Burngreen Lane and suffered facial injuries as a result.

Investigating officer PC Donald Matheson said: "I’m looking to speak to anyone who might have seen or heard anything unusual in the area of Leask Road, Gordon Street and Burngreen Lane areas in the early hours that day.

"I’m particularly keen to speak to a group of four young men who were in the area at the time of the assault and may have information that could assist us.

"Violence is not acceptable and I’ll be looking to utilise all available means in order to identify those responsible."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0768 of 30 June."
