Anger has been sparked after a motorhome was seen parked in the grounds of Lossiemouth Cemetery yesterday evening.

.

A reader contacted the Northern Scot this morning to claim that the action showed a lack of respect for the dead.

The reader, who also took this photo, said: "On Monday evening while visiting a relative's resting place I sadly observed a motorhome parked up for the night.

"Its window screens were down and its TV aerial was extended – all within Lossie Cemetery grounds.

"How very disrespectful is this?

"And once it starts others will follow."

Moray Council has stated that a 'No Overnight Camping' sign is now being erected at the site.

A council spokesperson added: "We encourage anyone visiting Moray to use the correct and appropriate facilities available to them.

"A cemetery is not an appropriate stopover site.

"Our rangers and open spaces staff check all car parks, parks and facilities regularly.

"However they can’t be everywhere at once.

"We would appeal to common courtesy and ask visitors to the area to respect their surroundings and local residents who live here."
