A report published last week stated that the head teacher and senior leadership team at the school provide strong leadership and together with staff, they have created a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The report goes on to say lessons are well-planned, interesting and that resources, including outdoor areas and amenities in the local community, are utilised well.

Education Scotland gathered evidence to evaluate the school’s work using certain quality indicators and graded according to a six-point scale of excellent, very good, good, satisfactory, weak and unsatisfactory.

The two quality assessments of the primary school were graded as 'good' meaning it had important strengths that have a significantly positive impact on children and young people.

However, two areas of improvement were highlighted in the report including an aim to continue improving literacy and numeracy attainment as well as a need to improve how the school helps children understand their skills and strengths.

The inspectors added: “We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.”

Sara Neil, Anderson’s Primary School head teacher, said: “I’m so proud of everyone on the team at Anderson’s Primary School.

"We aim to create a positive learning experience for every single pupil and we are pleased that this has been recognised."
