A MORAY theatre company is set to bring a show dealing with the loneliness of old age to local stages in September.
Man Shed is a one-man show written by Alves-born Euan Martin and starring actor Ron Emslie, who has been involved with Alves-based theatre company Right Lines Productions since 2004.
The show follows a man dealing with old age and bereavement, contemplating whether he should go outside his comfort zone or to stay in the solitude of his shed.
It was performed to high praise at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022, and was so successful that it was brought back this year for a run at The Gilded Ballroom throughout August.
The Scotsman newspaper, based in Edinburgh, called the show “a tender study of grief and loneliness".
It was inspired by the work of the Scottish Men’s Shed Association and has been highly supported by the organisation, being featured in their magazine The Shedder.
Euan Martin said: “There has been considerable demand from venues around the country, so we have organised a Scottish tour in September, immediately following the Fringe.”
The tour will have several dates in Moray, including Elgin Town Hall, Findochty Town Hall, the Fochabers Institute, and the Universal Hall in Findhorn.
Most venues on the tour will be offering concessions to members of the Scottish Men’s Shed Association.
Jason Shroeder, CEO of the organisation, said: “Ron Emslie delivers a ‘standing ovation’ performance which goes straight to the heart. Don’t miss it!”
