Allison Lupton Band and Session A9 to play Findhorn’s Universal Hall
FINDHORN’S Universal Hall is set for a weekend double-header to kick off April.
First, Allison Lupton and her band will play on Friday, April 5, before a visit from Session A9 on Sunday, April 7.
Allison Lupton hails from the heart of rural Ontario, Canada, where her love for music took root while singing in church choirs and learning jigs and reels at sessions.
From playing for community dances to soloing with orchestras, Allison has found her voice as a singer, flute player and songwriter after more than a quarter century performing in Canada and abroad.
Along the way, Allison has received multiple Canadian Folk Music Award nominations including “Traditional Singer of the Year”.
She is now touring her celebrated fourth solo album “Words of Love” joined by a stellar group of musicians including legendary Celtic guitar maestro Tony McManus, Grand North American Fiddle Champion Shane Cook, CCBA Mandolinist of the Year Andrew Collins and bass virtuoso Joe Phillips.
Session A9, meanwhile, have earned their reputation as one of the best live bands in the country over the last 20 years.
The band features Kevin Henderson, Adam Sutherland, Charlie Mckerron and Gordon Gunn on fiddles, David “Chimp” Robertson on percussion, Marc Clement on guitar and vocals, and Brian McAlpine on keyboards.
The evening will be a celebration of Session A9’s long-awaited album, which was released at Celtic Connections 2024. The band are excited to bring their new music to Findhorn.
“Findhorn is very special to me as I lived there for a few years before moving to Hopeman” says Charlie Mckerron.
“Session A9 can’t wait to come back to Universal Hall again to perform the music from our new release ‘The Magic Roundabout’.
“It’s always great at Findhorn and this will be another night to remember!”
