AFTER more than 30 years of support from scrap waste management company J Gordon Williamson, there has been a change of shirt sponsor at Forres Mechanics.

AJ Engineering’s green, red and blue logo will sit in the middle of the club’s home and away kits for 2023-24.

Owner and managing director Alan James said the company, whose headquarters are on the Greshop Industrial Estate, are delighted to be involved with their local club.

He said: “While AJ Engineering has carried out projects as far afield as Antarctica and all over the UK, we still very much think of ourselves as being a local company.

“It is, therefore, only right that, when we can, we support our town. The chance to be the kit sponsor for the Forres Mechanics came up and we were delighted to get involved.

“We wish the team all the best for the season ahead.”

David MacKintosh, Forres Mechanics chairman, is delighted to have AJ Engineering on board ahead of the new campaign, which begins on Saturday, July 29.

He also took time to thank Gordon Williamson for a sponsorship that could well be the longest in Highland League history.

“It’s brilliant have a local company supporting our local team,” he said.

“We are proud that we have formed this partnership and we plan to do the town and AJE proud this season.

“This new deal brings an end to our shirt sponsorship with J Gordon Williamson, which has been ongoing for more than 30 years – the longest in our history and probably that of the Highland League.

“For a generation of supporters this is the only sponsor they have known. We are delighted that J Gordon Williamson will continue to provide ongoing support as a pitch side sponsor.”

Mr MacKintosh added: “Craig Black (board member) has worked tirelessly with new suppliers RJM Sports to provide a kit that is modern and in line with the history and tradition of the club. We are delighted with the outcome.”
