CYCLISTS are invited to a special event at Grant Park this Saturday afternoon.

'Bike Fest' from noon-3pm, organised by Moray Council's Active Travel team and part of the Cycling UK Bothy programme, will offer riders of all ages the chance to learn cycling skills, about bicycle maintenance, local infrastructure, services and products.

A festival spokesperson said: "Do you want to get better at cycling? Try out an E-bike or any of the other non-standard bicycles that will be on display? Register your new bike for free with Police Scotland?

"Do you want to know how to fix a flat tyre? Get your bike checked over? Or are you keen to know the latest about active travel in our area?

"If so, go to Bike Fest this weekend. It will be great to see you there ... and don’t forget to bring your bike!"

Bike Fests are being held across Moray to promote accessible and inclusive cycling and walking opportunities for all.

More than 170 people attended the events in Aberlour and Elgin during the summer.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: "The Bike Fests are working with local communities to bring together organisations that promote walking and cycling. They are also helping to provide additional opportunities that are required to help people get active."

Outfit Moray, Bike Revolution, Friends of the Dava Way, Spinal Injuries Scotland and the Forres Active Travel Group will be there with information.

Bike Doctor sessions are planned, along with led cycles, a skills course, ebike and non-standard bike try-outs, as well as bike registration.

Free refreshments will be provided by Mather's at the Grant Park kiosk.

“Energy Savings Trust and Home Energy Scotland will be available with information on their e-bike loan and second-hand e-bikes. They will also be discussing their pilot 'Mobility and Scrappage' fund, which is promoting the shift from vehicles to active travel."
