AWARD winning musical artist Rowan Rheingans will be performing her topical show Dispatches on the Red Dress at Universal Hall, Findhorn this month.

The one woman performance features songs from Rheingans’ 2019 album The Lines We Draw Together and combines fiddle, banjo, viola & electric guitar music with a heartfelt narration of Rheingans’ grandmother's stories of growing up in 1940's Germany.

Callum Bell from Universal Hall Promotions said: "With all the news coming from Ukraine at the moment, I think it's an especially powerful time for such a show depicting childhood during wartime."

Dispatches on the Red Dress was a massive hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, winning the Fringe First Award in 2019. Rheingans was nominated for several other awards for the show, including the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award and the Filipa Braganca Award for Best Emerging Female Artist.

Mr Bell added: "After many five-star reviews, it's exciting to have this event in Moray's Universal Hall. Rowan's story is especially pertinent as war in Europe is on the hearts and minds of many of us at the moment."

The performance takes place on Thursday March 24, at 7.30pm at The Universal Hall, Findhorn.

Tickets are available at universalhall.co.uk

There will be no social-distancing at the event, but everyone attending must wear a mask unless exempt.
