Music Nairn is welcoming the highly-rated Elmore String Quartet later this month.

.

The young ensemble was formed at the Royal Northern College of Music, where they were coached by some of the world's leading chamber musicians.

The Tunnell Trust Award winning quartet's programme opens with Langsamer Satz, a short student piece by Webern, which is lyrical and passionate, in the style of Brahms or Mahler rather than the atonal works of the composer’s later period.

Britten’s 3rd quartet follows and the performance concludes with one of Beethoven’s late quartets op.132.

The Elmore String Quartet, who were previously known as the Freeman Quartet, formed in 2017.

The following year they were the quartet in residence at the South Downs International Summer Festival.

They have also performed at the Lake District International Music Festival and are currently the RNCM’s studio quartet.

They will be playing at Nairn Community and Arts Centre on Saturday, February 19, from 7.30pm.

Tickets in advance either at the desk, on 01667 453476 or from www.nairncc.co.uk

Also now available on the night.
