A COUPLE from Forres are offering a £200 reward to anyone who brings their missing dog home.

Kirsty Walling and her partner Jim Murdoch of 3 Fleurs Road lost Duke, a 20 week-old German Shepherd cross who ran off during a walk at Sanquhar on Sunday, September 19.

Kirsty said: "We were in the Woodend area of Sanquhar woods at around 9.30am yesterday. I tripped and dropped Duke's retractable lead which spooked him and he took off.

"Jim and I are devastated."

Duke is originally from Romania and was only welcomed into to his new Forres home a week ago.

His distraught owners have been looking for him since he took off. They are grateful to a number of local people who have been keeping an eye out since they made an appeal on social media.

"Duke has only just mastered walking on the lead," said Kirsty. "Sanquhar is the only place he’s familiar with so far, as well as our garden.

"He’s very nervous of loud noises and should only be approached slowly at his height ... but he’s not vicious in any way."

She added: "We’ve been looking in Sanquhar woods and have been to Sanquhar Farm to speak to farmer there.

"We think he may be hunkered down in the overgrowth as there have been no sightings."

A community search has been organised at 6pm tonight, meeting at Sanquhar pond car park.

Call 07305332199 or 07713809864 with any information about Duke's whereabouts.
