Highland League football card wiped out by winter weather as all eight matches postponed along with Elgin City’s League 2 clash with Spartans - but Inverness Caley Thistle game is still on
Football is a virtual wipeout in the north of Scotland following the postponement of the entire Highland league fixture card.
The remaining pitch inspections received a thumbs down to rule out Lossiemouth’s Moray derby against Forres Mechanics and Buckie Thistle’s coast derby with Deveronvale.
Three matches were called off on Friday and the games at Banks o’ Dee, Nairn County and Clachnacuddin also fell by the wayside on Saturday morning.
Elgin City’s League 2 match at home to Spartans failed an 8am inspection while the plug was pulled on the entire north junior football schedule on Friday.
As it stands, Caley Thistle’s important League 1 match at home to Dumbarton is the only surviving match in the north.
Pitch covers were laid on Caledonian Stadium to ensure the fixture was playable.
