Highland League Cup draw could hand Forres Mechanics a shot at holders Brora Rangers while Inverurie Locos and Buckie Thistle will clash in round one





The first cup draw for the next Highland League football season has been made.

The opening rounds of the R Davidson (Banchory) Highland League Cup have handed holders Brora Rangers a preliminary round tie.

Forres Mechanics have also landed a place in the prelims at home to Wick Academy on Saturday, September 13.

The winners of the Mosset Park match are likely to play Brora, who have been drawn at home to Strathspey Thistle in the September round.

Lossiemouth face a tough first round match at big spending Formartine United, who have added a string of former SPFL players to their ranks over the summer.

Keith host Fraserburgh, Buckie Thistle travel to Inverurie Locos and Rothes head for Turriff United.

Deveronvale, who reached the semi-finals last season, are away to Banks o’ Dee.

Preliminary round (September 13):

Forres Mechanics v Wick Academy

First round (November 8):

Banks o' Dee v Deveronvale

Brechin City v Clachnacuddin

Formartine United v Lossiemouth

Forres or Wick v Brora or Strathspey

Huntly v Nairn County

Inverurie Locos v Buckie Thistle

Keith v Fraserburgh
