Forres Mechanics joy as Matty Jamieson strike takes down Highland League champions Buckie Thistle
Forres Mechanics clambered above champions Buckie Thistle in the Highland League table after a superb 2-1 win at Victoria Park on Saturday.
Matty Jamieson’s winner around the hour mark took Cans into eighth spot after their sixth league win of the campaign.
They led early on through a superb Calum Frame strike into the top corner after just five minutes.
Josh Peters headed Buckie level from a corner kick and the sides went in at the break all square.
But a break by Jordan Alonge created Mechanics’ winner as he raced clear and saw his effort saved by home keeper Mark Ridgers, but Jamieson was on hand to steer home the loose ball.
It doesn’t get any easier for Forres on Saturday as they play host to undefeated league leaders Brechin City.
